Cape Cod’s only Nicklaus Design course is a combination
of scenic beauty and challenging play. “Jack (Nicklaus)
hasn’t done any other courses here on the Cape,” says
Director of Golf Shayne Sakson, who will be entering his 昀椀fth
season at Ocean Edge. “It’s a great layout and playable for
every level of golfer.”
As for his favorite hole, Sakson wavers between #8 and
#17. It’s the former which Ocean Edge uses for marketing,
making it the more scenic of the two. The par-3 hole has
a pond along the right-hand side, just short of the green.
There’s also a beautiful rock wall that encases the end of
the pond up to the green, which is surrounded by a bunker
to the right.
The latter is a par-5 dogleg left where you’ll be hitting from
elevated tees. At 600 yards, it’s a minimum three shots to
the elevated green, making it a dif昀椀cult, but aesthetically
pleasing hole.

The Ridge Club
SANDWICH
Designed by Robert von Hagge, a titan of golf architecture,
The Ridge Club offers a challenging layout set against a
stunning backdrop of seaside landscapes.
With an island green, the 17th hole is the crown jewel of
this Sandwich course. The 昀椀nal par-3 of the course is short
(150 yards at the back tee; 124 at the front), but with water
almost everywhere, it will test the accuracy of even the
most accomplished golfers.
